Intro and Conclusion


 For this week's reading task, I was tasked on writing the introduction and conclusion for my academic paper. I don't think it was difficult for this week, I didn't have a hard time writing the 2 paragraphs. The videos on the CDM website definitely helped me out with figuring out what to put into my introduction and conclusion paragraphs. For the introduction paragraph, I had to carefully figure out how to introduce the reader to my topic, without really summarizing my topic or like briefly talking about it. I think I phrased it nicely to grab the reader's attention and I also added questions for the introduction which I end up answering in the content of my paper.

For the conclusion, I ended up summarizing my main topic and I ended up quickly summarizing 3 of the main themes I talked about as well as including my overall opinion of the topic. I had to look through my paragraphs so I could see the main conclusion points I could add to the paragraph. Overall, I had an easier time writing the introduction than the conclusion because I usually have a hard time paraphrasing things. You can find all of my up to date work here.

    Hi Justino,
    Well done on completing your Introduction and Conclusion.
    I also found it quite easy to complete my Introduction and conclusion. I used the same technique you did coincidently.. by asking questions in the intro then addressing them throughout the paper. I think it is really helpful that we did these academic papers as they will drastically increase our writing and also reading skills for sure. Although it does consume a lot of time and effort, the end result is definitely worth the work put in. Keep it up and I hope you achieve the result you are aiming for.

Understanding Game Design

  Learning Game Design Fundamentals After reading "What is a game anyway?", it gave me a new perspective of what a game actually is. I've always had a straightforward way of thinking about it. I always knew it was an art as there are so many masterpieces of games out there, but there are so many different elements that actually make a game what it is. In order for a game to function as a game, it has to have rules, activities, goals, decision making and so many more aspects. All of the games that I have played or that are out there have these elements and are the reason why they exist. I have also learned that people have different interpretations of games and what they are, but to me a game is where you get to forget about the outside world and immerse yourself into the experience and enjoy yourself. Alpha

Setting up the Menu   For this week and to try to make this game look more like an alpha build, I fixed the camera issue I had in my previous sessions. I had to delete my previous scripts for the camera and created new ones which finally managed to work. The only thing that I couldn't really get right once I fixed my main camera issue is the clamp method to adjust how far the player could turn and look up but overall I got what I wanted. I also managed to set up the pause menu for the game so that the player could enter the settings or quit the level if they wanted to. The thing that I had a problem with was because the key to fire is the left mouse button, and to select one of the pause menu you need to click the left mouse button, it fires the arrow even though the game is frozen and it's something I'm currently trying to fix. The things I need to fully add are the fire arrows, the in game hud and the main menu and after that I would say that the beta build would be final
