Constructive Criticism


 For this week, we had to review the paragraph's of 2 peers that were chosen for us. I got Nadine Dam and Sam O'Sullivan for my 2 that I had to review, which I did right here:

For Nadine's piece, I found it hard to spot any mistakes or any improvements that could be made as I felt she did an overall amazing job with the paragraphs. For Sam's piece, I also found that It was very good but there were mistakes and areas that could be expanded on that I pointed out. Reviewing their pieces also gave me an idea of a few synonyms that I could add to my own piece to make it be more academic. From their feedback that I received, I used it to improve my paragraphs and I feel like they did help me out a lot to figure out what I needed to add or fix to make the paragraph more presentable and academic. Overall, the experience helped me reflect on my work and learn of ways to improve the way I write academically and look out for what I shouldn't be doing when writing my pieces. Understanding Game Design

  Learning Game Design Fundamentals After reading "What is a game anyway?", it gave me a new perspective of what a game actually is. I've always had a straightforward way of thinking about it. I always knew it was an art as there are so many masterpieces of games out there, but there are so many different elements that actually make a game what it is. In order for a game to function as a game, it has to have rules, activities, goals, decision making and so many more aspects. All of the games that I have played or that are out there have these elements and are the reason why they exist. I have also learned that people have different interpretations of games and what they are, but to me a game is where you get to forget about the outside world and immerse yourself into the experience and enjoy yourself. Alpha

Setting up the Menu   For this week and to try to make this game look more like an alpha build, I fixed the camera issue I had in my previous sessions. I had to delete my previous scripts for the camera and created new ones which finally managed to work. The only thing that I couldn't really get right once I fixed my main camera issue is the clamp method to adjust how far the player could turn and look up but overall I got what I wanted. I also managed to set up the pause menu for the game so that the player could enter the settings or quit the level if they wanted to. The thing that I had a problem with was because the key to fire is the left mouse button, and to select one of the pause menu you need to click the left mouse button, it fires the arrow even though the game is frozen and it's something I'm currently trying to fix. The things I need to fully add are the fire arrows, the in game hud and the main menu and after that I would say that the beta build would be final
