Game Vision Statement

My Game Statement

Bow: To No One is a first person shooter powered by Unity engine which challenges the player to use strategic skill to use the given resources for their bow to strike through their targets in a challenging level system set in a fantasy medieval time.

The game doesn't allow you to move around the map, but instead you can move around your perspective as a bowman where you are presented with a target, an ironic target: an apple. You start to learn basic control of the bow and to carefully aim it at the target. You cleanly penetrate the target with no issue, and demonstrated your understanding of the intricacies of the bow, but now, your challenge has truly arrived.

You have acquired some special fire arrows, capable of destroying any obstacles and luckily there are a few in your way so it will be great to test them out but you only have a limited amount, so make sure that you use them wisely. Upon entering the area, you notice something different. The target this time, is moving and there is one obstacles in front of you that doesn't seem to give you a good opening for the target. You check to see how much ammo you have: 5 normal arrows and 2 fire arrows. You equip your fire arrow as you need to create an opening for yourself and the target. You ready your arrow and aim it carefully. You blast the obstacle with ease as you see it's remnants fly everywhere. You equip your normal arrow and aim carefully to predict where the target will move so you can calculate where your arrow will connect. Your release your bow string and you penetrate the target, and the objective is completed. You have received gold as a reward for completing the objective and you are able to buy a new and more powerful bow for yourself.

You have bought your new and improved bow to replace your old and plain one, and now you're ready to take on a new challenge. Upon entering this new area, you feel a gust of wind hit the left side of your face as you spot your next target and this time, there are 2 obstacles in your way and you have no choice to destroy one of them to be able to hit your target. You check your ammo and you yet again have 5 normal arrows and 2 fire arrows. You ready your fire arrow, and without realizing it, fire as the gust of wind guides your arrow to the right, away from your obstacle. You take notice of the wind and you ready your final fire arrow and aim it slightly to the left of the obstacle and fire. This time, you obliterate the the obstacle but you don't have the final fire arrow to destroy the final obstacle. This time, you have to improvise. This time at least, you have somewhat of an opening and you are confident you can make it count. You ready your regular arrow and aim carefully. You patiently wait and then release the arrow. You miss but that doesn't discourage you and you ready your 2nd arrow. This time, the shot connects and you have completed the objective. You receive your reward in gold and move to the next level...

This is just a preview of the gameplay that the player would experience upon playing the game and I'm excited to hear people's opinions of the game itself when it is made.

The game will include:

  • Different types of arrows to choose from with different mechanics.
  • A push and pull mechanism on bow
  • Moving target mechanism to make game more challenging.
  • A wind mechanism to make the game more challenging.
  • Different types of bows to offer players a sense of progression and 'Power creep'
  • Ways to upgrade the bow if the player really likes the design of the bow.

This game's target platform right now is for pc as it is most accessible to people and the game won't require a lot of power to run so the game should gain traction.

The game is basically a first person, strategy set in a medieval fantasy world.

  1. Hi Justin! I really like how you presented your game vision statement blog because instead of explaining it in a more academic style, you wrote it in a creative way where it has a story like feels to it. It made me read it so casually and helped me understood the whole game visually as well. Apart from that I also find it interesting that instead of just having one type of bow, you decided to make two! I think that this idea will really help your players engage to your game because it's unique especially there's only two fire arrows, making them think more and decided when to use them.

Here are some of the questions that I have gathered after reading your vision statement:

Did you already decide that you'll be using two types of bows from the start of your game research? How did you come up with this really cool ideas?

I also have a suggestion for you, what if you could add an armor or a shield for your player to help them protected from their enemy? Maybe you could also add another type of bow like an ice bow where it can freeze/slow down the enemy so it will give the player more time to kill them?

I hope that my Tag Feedback is able to help you improve your game!
